Student Committee on Bioethics

submenu

The Student Committee on Bioethics (SCOB) is a program within the Center for Health Interprofessional Programs (CHIP) which, since the early 1970s, has promoted student education and engagement in bioethics. Our goal is to involve present and future health care providers of all disciplines in critical and open explorations of the ethical issues and dilemmas that arise within the bio/medical context.

Principal activities include a lecture series, journal clubs and bioethics consultation services. SCOB provides a forum for students in all health professions to discuss and analyze current and historical issues that may affect their future work. We learn about and expand on topics in bioethics that may not come up in class or go into greater depth. We try to discuss bioethics using both a theoretical and case-based approach.
