What is the Wilderness Health Society?
The Wilderness Health Society (WHS) is a CHIP student committee that strives to give Academic Health Center (AHC) students the ability to expand their healthcare learning into another arena--the outdoors. WHS really serves two functions:
- providing students a chance to meet other AHC peers that may have similar recreational interests; and
- sponsoring events and lectures that will supplement classroom studies, broadening our learning into skills that will help us provide care in emergency cases when we must think quickly and act with limited resources.
Wilderness Health Society Activities
This year we are sponsoring a number of events, including a medical wilderness adventure race, advanced wilderness life support course, and other exciting expeditions. These activities are student-run and help build our leadership and teamwork skills in the process.

How to get involved:
The Wilderness Health Society is seeking additional committee members. Students in Nursing are especially needed. For more information contact Katie Pastorius at past0030@umn.edu.
