What is PEERS?
PEERS is a registered student committee that operates under the Center for Health Interdisciplinary Programming (CHIP) within the AHC. Committee members represent multiple programs of the AHC and work together to develop co-curricular activities relating to substance use awareness and prevention.

PEERS was started by a group of students who attended The University of Utah School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies in 2002. “The School”, an annual program held for a week in June, is internationally recognized for educational awareness of the health and social problems of addiction. CHIP has offered AHC students encouragement and support to attend “The School” since 2002.
What is our mission?
The mission of PEERS is to increase health professions students' awareness and understanding of addictive diseases such as chemical dependency and substance abuse for both their own and their patients' well-being.
